Free Trauma Informed Practice Training for Scotland's Sporting Community

Our friends at Children First and Kyniska are delighted to offer a series of free Trauma Informed Practice training webinars for the sporting community across Scotland, thanks to funding from sportscotland's Summer of Sport programme.

These interactive online sessions have been designed for anyone involved in sport who wants to build their confidence in supporting children and young people. Whether you are a coach, volunteer, parent, committee member or Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer, this training provides practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in everyday sporting environments.

What to expect

The webinars are:

  • Free to attend

  • Delivered online

  • Interactive and practical

  • Just two hours long

  • Available during both daytime and evening

  • Running from August 2026 to March 2027

Participants will gain a greater understanding of how trauma can influence behaviour and learn practical approaches to responding in ways that help children and young people feel safe, supported and able to thrive in sport.

The training is open to:

  • Coaches

  • Volunteers

  • Parents and carers

  • Child Wellbeing and Protection Officers

  • Committee members

  • Any adult working with or supporting children and young people in sport
