STS Development Programme
Structured national development for athletes ready to take the next step in their shooting.
Part of the STS whole-sport Pathway Framework.
The Scottish Target Shooting Development Programme provides structured coaching and development support for athletes with the potential, commitment and readiness to benefit from a more purposeful national development environment.
Part of the wider STS Pathway Framework, the Programme bridges the gap between regular club, school, university or other shooting activity and more advanced performance environments.
Who is the Programme for?
The Development Programme is for athletes who demonstrate the potential, commitment and readiness to benefit from structured development support.
To develop towards the relevant performance pathway within their discipline.
To purposeful training, learning and continued development.
To engage with structured coaching, Programme activity and agreed expectations.
What does the Programme offer?
Coaching
Structured support from an appropriate Development Coach.
Squad Activity
Training camps and development activity appropriate to the discipline.
Development Planning
Individual goals, planning and regular review.
Competition Support
Preparation, experience and learning through competition.
Athlete Development
Building performance behaviours, self-management and independence.
Connected Coaching
Working alongside personal coaches and regular training environments where appropriate.
Specific provision will vary by discipline and intake.
The Development Programme operates through a common STS framework across the whole sport, while allowing coaching, delivery and progression routes to reflect the needs of different disciplines.
Current sportscotland Pathway Investment supports provision for eligible Olympic and Paralympic disciplines and events.
Equivalent recognised provision may also be developed where an appropriate athlete group, delivery model, workforce and sustainable funding arrangement are in place.
