Seonaid Wins Bronze at ISSF World Rifle and Pistol Championships

The 2025 ISSF World Rifle and Pistol Championships were held in Cairo, Egypt across 6-18 November 2025 and there were a couple of STS athletes there representing Great Britain.

Seonaid McIntosh was there representing GBR in the 10m Air Rifle, 50m 3 Position and 50m Prone competitions in her first major competition for several months.

In the 10m Air qualification round, Seonaid finished 13th with a score 632.0, just missing out on the final with the 8th placed finisher scoring 633.0, showing how close the competition was. By coincidence, 13th was also Seonaid’s placing in the 50m Prone competition, finishing with a score of 621.6.

However, in the 50m 3 Position competition, Seonaid qualified for the final, finishing 6th in qualification with a score of 589 - 36x, and then went on to a win a Bronze medal in the final later that day scoring 454.6 in the final, narrowly missing out by 0.4 when the eventual silver medallist had a score of 455.0 at the same stage. A massive well done to Seonaid.

The second athlete representing GBR was Jess Liddon, competing in the 25m Pistol competition. Jess produced a strong performance at the Precision round of shooting, score 290 after scores of 98, 98 and 94 but she missed out on qualifying for the final with a Rapid score of 286 (scores of 96, 94 and 96) resulting in Jess finishing in 40 overall but still a good performance against a world class field.

Well done to both the Scottish shooters involved and especially to Seonaid for her Bronze medal!
