One member of the STS Pistol squad was in action for The Great Britain Shooting Team at the Intarso Reflex Shooting Cup in Belgium on the first weekend in June. Alan Goodall had a mixed performance, showing great form at various times, but poor consistency wrecked any real chance of being in contention.
Over the three day event, there were three Air Pistol matches with finals; plus an additional 12 person final for the Intarso Cup and big money prizes sponsored by Intarso. Alan qualified for each final, and lead each of them in the early stages, but fell away to the minor places before the medals were awarded.
GBR team mate Waldek Mickiewicz faired better, wining bronze on day one, gold on day two, and finishing second to Germany’s Patrik Meyer in the Intarso final to win an electronic target system worth around £2000.
It is planned that this new event will become a regular annual fixture on the international calendar; and if the level of sponsorship of prizes continues, and date clashes can be avoided, this is sure to become a major competition in the summer season.
