NRA Gallery Rifle Nationals 2025 - Match Report
The Scottish Gallery Rifle Squad headed down to the home of the NRA at Bisley for the National Gallery Rifle weekend over 30th and 31st August, which includes the Home Countries National Match that included teams from Scotland and England competing in the rifle, long barrelled pistol and long barrelled revolver matches. The rifle match is shot shoulder to shoulder on the Sunday morning with both handgun events using the individual scores shot over the weekend.
The squad was bolstered by the addition of a couple of old faces and with a feeling that we could really push England in the event. Sadly, it was not to be though we ran them pretty close in the rifle match losing by twenty points in an event where each team have a possible 4,200 points available. The handgun events did not produce such a close affair and England ran out fairly easy winners.
However, the weekend was far from a washout as there were plenty of podium finishes and medals were brought home by every single member of the squad in attendance.
This was my last competition as Scotland captain and I would like to thank all the squad members who have turned out and put themselves in the line of fire over the last four years. I would also like to thank STS for their support of the squad and the reps involved, especially Scott Lyon who has taken a lot of the workload on and helped push the squad forward.
I look forward to the new captain taking over and will continue to support the squad.
