Badenoch and Strathspey Muzzle Loading and Rifle Club - Annual Air Rifle Field Trial

The competitors started with precision bench rest disciplines addressing targets on the 25yd  range then moving on to multiple audible targets from a standing position at 30 and 35yds.

A move was then made to a point where 6 drop down targets are sighted at distances from 8 to 20yds, these targets are made of metal and are in the shape of crows etc with an aperture in the center, this has a disk in the rear which when hit, will make the target fall.

The competition ended on the 50yd range where a further 6 targets were addressed including bullseye paper targets, spinning targets, plaster discs etc.

Two types of air rifles were used,  one being known as break barrel or under lever providing one shot per load and the other known as Pre Charged Pneumatic having a small compressed air cylinder incorporated in the rifle filled either by a diving cylinder or small air compressor providing many shots and using a small magazine holding up to 10 pellets  for single shots.
