Fraya Allen

Where in Scotland are you from? Just outside Stirling.

What discipline(s) do you shoot? I shoot 10m Air Rifle.

Which coaches have helped you get to this point in your shooting journey? Sinclair Bruce has been my only consistent coach up until joining the Programme.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was your shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I joined the Combined Cadet Force and quickly made it onto my school shooting team using the .22 rifles at 25yds. I joined an external smallbore rifle club for extra practice and was told I could apply to the Scottish Junior Development Squad, where I was introduced to 10m Precision Air Rifle. I trained largely on my own for a few months until I began being coached by Sink, and started competing in larger competitions where I could meet the criteria to apply to the Program.

Where you do your shooting? My home range is the Alloa & District Rifle Club, however while attending university I will be shooting at the Pleasance Sports Centre in Edinburgh.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? I aspire to represent Scotland and GB at an international competition, and to one day compete at a World Cup or in the Olympics.

Any other interesting non-shooting related fact about yourself that you would like to mention? I’ve played the clarinet for 8 years and had a brief stint with the tenor saxophone. I spend a lot of my free time reading books or attempting to write my own.
