Andrew Walker

Where in Scotland are you from? I am from Livingston, West Lothian

What discipline(s) do you shoot and who are your coaches? I shoot 10m Air Pistol

Which coaches have helped you get to this point in your shooting journey? My current coach is Sonal Ramendra-Gyȍrik but some of the other coaches to help me along my journey are Andrew Ross and Iain Aberdeen.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was your shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I started shooting when I was about 10 and shot double-handed or off a rest at that stage. In 2016, I attended my first major competition, the Welsh Air Gun Championship having just started shooting single-handed. In 2019 I won the British Junior Men 10m and retained my Scottish Junior title. This was the year I applied to the Performance program. Since then I have attended the Hungarian open in 2021 where I came 3rd with a qualification score of 568. In 2022, I set a new PB of 572 at the BPC 10m championship. I also attended the Junior World Cup, the ISSF Grand Prix Granada and the Nordic Championships, where I won Bronze in the mixed pairs and team events.

Where do you do your shooting? Anywhere I can. I shoot at Balerno & Currie Rifle Club, St. Andrews Rifle Club and the many ranges used for training weekends. During lockdown I shot across the landing on the Scatt.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? My plans are to be the best I can be. My dream would be to attend a World Cup and possibly the Olympics.

Any other interesting non-shooting related fact about yourself that you would like to mention? I I'm currently attending Abertay University in Dundee studying Ethical Hacking. For relaxation, I practice Yoga and read. For fitness, I attend the gym and have recently taken up rock climbing, which is great for mental strength and physical strength.
