Inspired by Tokyo? Read How to Apply for the 2021-22 STS Performance Programme

STS is pleased to announce that applications for the 2021-22 Performance Programme will be opening on Sunday 1st August 2021. and will close just before midnight on Tuesday 31st August and late applications will not be accepted. We are keen to make sure that no one misses out on this opportunity so please remember:

  • Applications are open to non-STS members (although STS membership must be taken out if accepted on to the programme);

  • Our programme is fully inclusive so we welcome applications from all athletes, including para athletes; and

  • We are also considering applications for Talent Transfer from athletes currently competing in non-Olympic/Paralympic disciplines or events so if you are a talented athlete in a non-ISSF discipline, we still want to hear from you.

Lesley Stewart Secures GB Paralympic Quota Place After Winning Bronze in Lima

Scotland’s Lesley Stewart has secured bronze and a Tokyo Paralympic quota place for ParalympicsGB at the World Shooting Para Sport Lima World Cup 2021. It is a compliment to the STS Performance Programme’s inclusive approach to running the programme, adopted following the transfer of the programme to STS following the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. STS has also been working with Scottish Disability Sport to provide the best possible support to athletes with a disability on the programme, and British Shooting through her involvement in their Academy programme.

School Pistol Championships 2020-21

National Final Results

The 2020-21 Schools Pistol Championships came to an exciting end with the National Final in the last week of May.

Over 100 Finalists across all the regions in the UK shot their National Final competition targets remotely and submitted their scores and targets centrally, in their bid to become the 2020-21 National Champion.

Our Scottish athletes were fantastic with Tara Kane taking the Junior Individual Gold and Lockerbie Academy winning the Junior Team Gold.

Tom MacTaggart was the 4th ranked male in the Intermediate Individual event

Isobel Mactaggart just missed out on a medal and finished 4th overall and 4th ranked female in the Senior Individual event with Hamish McDonald closely behind as 5th overall and first in the male rankings.

Well done to all our Scottish entries for your determination and organisation to take part in the strangeness of the past year.

STS Publishes Selection Policy for India 2022 Commonwealth Championships

STS has today published its Selection Policy for the 2022 Commonwealth Shooting Championships. The Commonwealth Championships is due to take place in India in January 2022, although there are still many details for the event still to be confirmed, however STS wanted to give all shooters guidance on what will be required. The selection window will be running from 1st April to 30th September 2021 to achieve the necessary requirements, however a notification of interest for selection must be declared by non Performance Programme athletes by 31st July 2021. Scottish Sport Committed To Being Part of COVID-19 Recovery

Leading figures from across Scottish sport have met to discuss the continued impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the role the sport sector will play in the nation’s long-term recovery from the pandemic.

Members of the Scottish Governing Bodies Chief Executive Officers Forum were joined by Minister for Public Health and Sport, Mairi Gougeon, and Chief Executive of sportscotland, Stewart Harris, at the virtual meeting.

Despite the current COVID-19 restrictions the British Schools Smallbore Rifle Association has taken an optimistic view and decided to run the annual match again this year. I expected to have reduced support this year and perhaps have only one Team. It was great to have the usual level of support and I have managed to maintain the normal two Teams. Seonaid's Selection for Tokyo Olympics Confirmed

Seonaid McIntosh was one of the first four shooting athletes confirmed by Team GB as being selected for the Tokyo Olympic Games, rescheduled from 2020 to the summer of 2021 as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Seonaid’s selection is reward for what has been an incredible few years for her prior to the pandemic, which has put a stop on all shooting competitions in 2020, halting Seonaid’s impressive medal haul that led to her selection.
