Late June saw the Smallbore Scottish Haig meeting in Aberdeen in collaboration with the NSRA.
The meeting consisted of the aggregate of 3 dewar matches (20 shots at both 50m and 100yd), shot in classes, and culminated in the Scottish Long Range Championship for the Earl Haig Trophy.
There was some great shooting across the competitions with John Campbell having the top aggregate score and won A-class, while James Paterson won X-class aggregate. The Earl Haig was won by Neil Stirton with a brilliant shoot in testing and changeable conditions.
STS ran the Freuchie competition (the Scottish Long Range Matchplay Championship).
This ran across 3 rounds, initially with everyone randomly drawn into groups of 3-4 shooting 1 card at 100yard, with the winner of each group going forward to the next round until 3 remain in the final.
The final was a close run thing, with James Brown, James Paterson and Susan Jackson all separated by 3 points. Susan Jackson (194) pipping James Paterson (193) and James Brown (191) to win the Wilkinson Sword trophy.
The C&D class final for the Sgian Dubh trophy was won by Tony Lin Baledent, with a score of 194 which matched the main final winning score.
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who took part
