Keith White

Where in Scotland are you from? Edinburgh

What discipline(s) do you shoot and who are your coaches? I shoot Para Trap and my coaches are Iain MacGregor and Marco Micheli.

Which coaches have helped you get to this point in your shooting journey? Iain McGreggor and Marco Micheli

How did you get involved in the sport and what was your shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? Shooting started for me as a young child with air pistols that I would shoot in my garden with my farther, I joined the Air Training Corps when I was 14, which provided opportunity to shoot .22 and Full Bore rifle.

I joined the RAF Regiment at 17 1/2 years, as an infantry solider I had the opportunity to shoot various weapons, but this also introduced me to the Queens Medal as it was then, a large-scale shooting competition for the armed services, held at Bisley.

After leaving regular military service, I continued with the Territorial Army, and again this introduced to yet more competition shooting.

After leaving the TA to attend Uni, I lost my connection to shooting, but after being involved in an RTA in Dec 2000, and thus becoming wheelchair user, I was then introduced to clay target shooting in 2003. I only considered this as a hobby until in 2017, while working just outside of Inverness, I was introduced to Olympic Trap at Glenmoriston Shooting Ground.

This proved to be my turning point in shooting. I was first capped for Great Britain in March 2018, and since then have represented GB and many UK and International Competitions.

Following my success for GB, this lead me to being accepted on the STS Performance Programme, which has aided my shooting further.

Where you do your shooting? My home ground is the National Shooting Centre Scotland (Falkirk), but training commitments take me to North Ayrshire SG, Kippen Gun Club, Auchterhouse Country Sports and East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? After becoming UK Para Champion, Bronze Medallist at the WSPS European Champs and Bronze Medallist at the WSPS World Champs in 2022, retain my UK Para Trap Championship in 2023 and setting a new finals Olympic Trap record of 45 ex 50, my plans are to continue as long as I am able, with a view to representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games (should this still happen) and the Olympics, should Para Trap be included, in Los Angeles 2028.

Any other interesting non-shooting related fact about yourself that you would like to mention? In the off season, I am a Radio Ham, a keen amateur photographer and sun worshipper.....
