Frankie Calder

Where in Scotland are you from? I am from a small village called Falkland.

What discipline(s) do you shoot? I shoot 10m Air Rifle.

Which coaches have helped you get to this point in your shooting journey? My coaches are Neil Calder and Andrew Ross.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was your shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I first started to shoot when I was about 9 due to both of my parents being active shooters and going to the club twice a week to shoot 20m prone rifle. I started to pick it up alongside my sister, and we were both shooting well. Later on I continued into the competitive aspect of prone rifle and picked up 50m and 100 yards as well. I was recommended to join the performance program by Ian, and have started the transition to air rifle. I am enjoying the air rifle, though it is somewhat new to me still.

Where you do your shooting? I train at Denwood and the range at St Andrews.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? I am hoping to represent Scotland with my air rifle, but ultimately I want to continue my career knowing I still love the sport.

Any other interesting non-shooting related fact about yourself that you would like to mention? I enjoy playing the harp, and I often go on long walks in the woods near I live so I can take photographs of the surrounding nature.
