Programme

The competitions take place between November 2021 and March 2022.

The competitions are open to both Scottish Target Shooting (STS) members and non-members, apart from the STS Medal event which is restricted to STS members only.

The STS Medal - Closing Date for Entries 30 November 2021

Scottish Target Shooting Members Only

This is a free event for STS members competing for the STS Silver Medal and is shot over 2 stages in 4 classes, plus Junior and Veteran classes.

First Stage: Each competitor shoots 3 cards in one hour. Top ten and equal go through to the final. Cards should be shot by 7 February 2022 and reach the scorer by 14 February 2022.

Second Stage - The Final: Each competitor shoots 3 cards in one hour. Ties are decided by re-gauging. Cards should be shot by 14 March 2022 and reach the scorer by 31 March 2022.

CanDicap - Closing Date for Entries 30 November 2021

This competition is open to everyone in C and D class and is shot over 2 stages.

First Stage: Each competitor shoots 3 cards to a self-declared handicap in one hour. The minimum Handicap is 5 and should be noted on the card. Top Ten and Equal go through to the Final (Second Stage).

Cards should be shot by 7 February 2022 and reach the scorer by 14 February 2022.

Second Stage - The Final: Each competitor shoots a set of 3 cards to a self-declared handicap in one hour. The minimum Handicap is 5 and should be noted on the card. Ties decided by re-gauging.

Cards should be shot by 14 March 2022 and reach the scorer by 31 March 2022.

Speedway - Closing Date for Entries 30 November 2021

This competition is shot in two classes, A/B and C/D. and is shot in 2 stages, a postal qualifying round with a shoulder to shoulder Open Final.

First Stage: Each competitor shoots 5 cards (not a set). Top 16 or Top 9 go through to the Final (Second Stage).

The first stage of the Speedway competition must be completed by Monday 7 February 2022 and reach the scorer by Monday 14 February 2022.

Second Stage - The Final (Shoulder to Shoulder): Competitors shoot four separate 20-shot matches, each against two different finalists.

The highest score in each match earns 4 points, second place 2 points. Ties will result in sharing the relevant points, except in a tie on 200, in which case each shooter will receive 4 points.

The Final takes place at the Balerno Range in Edinburgh on Sunday 7 March 2022 (the day after the World Cup Final).

Prone Team League - Closing Date for Entries 12 November 2021

The league is open to teams of 4 from the same club. The league is run on a normal basis, with divisions decided on submitted team averages. Each team member shoots 1 card per fortnight over 10 rounds. Divisions of 6 will be made up according to declared averages.

Clubs may enter more than one team.

The competition involves 2 cards during each of 8 match periods between December 2021 to March 2022.

3P Short Range Championship - Closing Date for Entries 12 November 2021

This competition is unclassified and the course of fire is at competitor’s discretion.  You have the option of competing as either a single 3 x 40 stage or as two 3 x 20 half courses. . If shot as a 2 stage match, the scores of the two half courses will be added together to determine the winner.

If shooting two 3 x 20 half courses, the first half course must be completed by 7 February 2022 and reach the scorer by 14 February 2022. The second half course must be shot by 14 March 2022 and reach the scorer by 21 March 2022.

If shooting a single 3x40 course, cards should be shot by 21 March 2022 and reach the scorer by 28 March 2022

3P Individual League - Closing Date for Entries 12 November 2021

The 3P League consists of a half course of 3x20 with 20 shots in each of the prone, standing and kneeling disciplines. There is one round each month in December 2021 and January, February and March 2022.

Air Rifle Team League - Closing Date for Entries 12 November 2021

This is a 60 shot competition with 5 rounds running between December 2021 to March 2022. There are two rounds in December 2021 and one round each in January, February and March 2022.

Air Rifle Individual League - Closing Date for Entries 12 November 2021

If you have entered a team event, you can also take part in an Individual League as part of your entry.

Leagues will be allocated based on entries and averages submitted. The points in each league are allocated with the top score being awarded n-1 points, second n-2 points etc. (where n is the number of shooters in the league). The individual with the greatest number of points at the end will be deemed to be the winner.

Targets

All prone events are shot on NSRA BM series targets over 15, 20 or 25 yards or NSRA approved electronic systems.

Air rifle events are shot at 10m on either NSRA 5 bull targets, 5 shot strip targets, ISSF single shot targets or NSRA approved electronic systems.

Standing and kneeling disciplines are shot on NSRA BM series 2 bull and 5 bull targets respectively or NSRA approved electronic systems.

Stickers

A Club Official must affix stickers to the front of the correct NSRA target for the discipline and distance. The targets must be shot and witnessed according to NSRA rules. The cards for all rounds may be shot immediately the stickers are received, but the closing date for each round must be adhered to.

Prizes

  • STS Medal: The STS Silver Medal is awarded to the top score and a salver to the top score in each class.
  • CanDicap: The CanDicap Quaich is awarded to the overall winner.
  • Speedway: The Bill Dick Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the top score in all classes and the Boston Bowl will be awarded to the competitor with the Highest score in C and D classes.
  • Prone Individual League: A gold medal will be awarded to the top score in each division.
  • Short Range 3P Championship: A gold medal will be awarded to the overall winner.
  • 3P League: A gold medal will be awarded to the top score in each division.
  • Air Rifle Individual League: A gold medal will be awarded to the top score in each division.

Averages

For the Medal, Speedway and Prone League your average should be calculated from the best 10 of the last 12 indoor match cards shot.

For the 3P League and Championship and Air Rifle Leagues your average should be calculated from the best 5 of the last 6 matches.

For the CanDicap you should have a minimum handicap of 5.

For the Club Team Leagues your average should be calculated from the best 10 of the last 12 indoor match cards shot.  You can use a Prone Indoor Average or an Air Rifle Indoor Average.
