The 2023 WSPS World Chamionships were held in Lima Peru from 19 - 26 September 2023. The programme included Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun and was organised by World Shooting Para Sport.
The trip didn’t get off to the best start as the airline left my gun in Amsterdam so I had a day to wait for it to arrive and made the most of it by doing some of the tourist things in Lima, which was absolutely fantastic.
The Para Trap qualification performance was very challenging and I had to fight all the way to the last target of qualification. I finished in 3rd equal with a score of 95/125. Not the best score however it proved challenging for many!
After a quick shoot off for bib number, I got bib 4 and it was finals time. I had a very average first 25 targets and knew it was likely to be a battle for bronze at that point. I got drawn into the situation and took me away from delivering my performance to the level I know I can. In the end I finished 4th in my first world championship final.
Great experience and again clear things to work on going ahead. I didn’t know what to expect from Lima, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. 🤞 now for the LA2028 Paralympic announcement around paratrap and whether it will be included. Finally, without Mrs D holding the fort at home , none of this would be possible! Thank you,
