Scots Descend on British Shooting Shotgun Series Round 3

Approaching the mid point of the year, Scottish athletes Mike Drever, Isabel Mackintosh, Ewen Patience, Allan Richie, Ewen Ross and Keith White descended on the British Shooting Shotgun Series for Round 3, held at Nuthampstead over the weekend of the 23rd to 25th July 2023. Weather conditions were perfect, as the UK enjoyed what can only be described as a heat wave.

Conditions during the competition were excellent. Hot sunny weather with little or no wind, provided the perfect conditions to hold the competition, although the heat was an issue.

All athletes put in an excellent performance, with Ewen Ross shooting a personal best of 120/125 - many congratulations to Ewen for an amazing performance. Sadly, despite making the final Ewen did not medal on this occasion.

This event saw the return of Allan Ritchie to the competition circuit after some time faraway due to injury. All three Scottish Para athletes performed well, with Mike Drever making bib one position in the final with a score of 104/125, with Allan Ritchie third and Keith White in bib four position.

Conditions for the final were perfect, with little or no wind, sunny skies and hot. All athletes shot well, but fatigue took its toll on Allan who did not medal on this occasion. Mike and Keith slogged it out all the way to the medals, were Mike took the Bronze - a great result for Mike - and Keith battling to the Gold for Scotland.

When we asked Mike to make comment on his performance, he replied:

“Over the moon, the hard work and training is paying off, and this has set me in a good position to build from in prep for the World Champs in Sept, Lima.”

Keith commented:

“Another good result showing training is paying off and has put me in a great position for the WSPS World Cup, Osijek, Croatia in July.”

All athletes expressed their thanks to STS and their coach Marco Micheli for his continued input and support.
