Scottish athletes were in action in Wales last week, competing at the Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) Championships.

Shotgun events took place at Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground. In Men’s Skeet, David McNeill won individual gold and pairs silver with Richard Brooks. David qualified for the final in 1st place, three points ahead of the next best athlete, with Richard also into the final in 5th. In Men’s Trap, Ewen Patience took individual bronze after winning a shoot-off to make the final. He also won bronze in the pairs with teammate, Drew Christie. And in Women’s Trap, 16yr-old Izzy MacKintosh snatched a fantastic individual silver medal with a new personal best in Qualification.

Down in Cardiff, 10m Air Rifle and Pistol events took place at the Sport Wales National Centre. Bertie Galloway claimed an impressive individual silver medal in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle after a close-fought final, while Andrew Walker took individual bronze in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol. They were joined by Rhona Love and Emilia Faulkner respectively, with both Mixed Pairs finishing 4th after two closely contested bronze medal matches. Rhona also shot a new personal best in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle individual event the previous day, finishing 5th after the final. 50m Rifle events took place at Tondu Target Shooting Club, where Lenny Thomson qualified for the Men’s 50m Prone final in second.

Fullbore took place in Bisley last month, as part of the wider WRA Championships, where Lindsay McKerrell, Patrick Costello, James Shepherd and Richard Dyball were all in action. Full results to follow.

Congratulations to all, and thank you to the organisers for all their hard work in making the event happen!
