CSF(ED) Wales 2022 - Expressions of Interest

Competition Details

For those not yet aware, Wales have announced that they will host a Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) (otherwise known as CSFED) competition in September 2022. The shooting programme is extensive and STS is seeking expressions of interest from athletes with a desire to be considered for selection in the events listed not currently supported by the performance programme. For clarity, this means we are seeking expressions of interest in the following events:

  • Rifle - 50m Prone Rifle (events to be held at Tondu, 8-11 September)

  • Pistol - 50m, Centre Fire & Standard Pistol (events to be held concurrent with the Channel Islands Pistol Championships, 2–5 June)

  • Shotgun - None

  • Fullbore - Individual and Pairs (will be held at the WRA open Championships at Bisley, 27–28 August)

The main body of the competition will take place 8–11 September.

Exclusions

Please note that the CSF(ED) in Wales consists of a more extensive programme than the events listed above, but selection for the other events (i.e. the events not listed above) will be limited to STS Performance Programme athletes only.

Other Details

A decision on funding is still to be made as full details on costs are as yet unknown. Given the current level of investment received, it is unlikely that STS will be able to fully fund an entire team - it is likely that athletes will need to make a financial contribution. At this stage, we are seeking expressions of interest with no requirement or need to make a financial commitment. Once we know the costs involved, athletes will be given the opportunity to review their desire to considered and/or involved.

Selection

An expression of interest does not guarantee selection but neither does it commit an athlete to being involved unequivocally. The selection of athletes will still be subject to meeting the selection criteria that we will be publishing later this year. At this stage, an expression of interest enables us to understand the number of athletes interested and keep in contact with them about how to apply for selection when the time comes.

Expression of Interest Deadline

Even though the competition is not for several months, all countries need to advise Wales of a prospective team size soon so we would request that any expressions of interest need to be made using the designated form by Thursday 31st March.
