Pistol AMG Development Squad Session Reflections for 2022

The first three sessions of the re-launched Pistol Develpment Squad have now run and I'm pleased to report the meetings have been a success and we will look to continue them into 2023!

We have had good numbers at all three events, with some people travelling over 270 miles round trip to come and train; I am very humbled and appreciate the commitment involved from the Athletes, to come and work on their sport and explore ways to improve and move forward.

Another thing I am really happy about is we have covered the range cost, so the Development Squad is looking very healthy and I have no concerns over its future.

I have now booked a further three dates for next year starting in January, at Callander Target Sports Club, a change from Glenrothes; however we will be back to Glenrothes after the days at Callander have finished, and I hope to continue to use both ranges going forward.

The new dates are:

  • Saturday 21st January

  • Saturday 18th February

  • Saturday 11th March

We will get them up on the STS website to be booked in the normal way. Like Glenrothes, Callander is a well equipped venue and should prove great for our needs. It is a little difficult to find the first time so I will provide a map reference.

Andy Ralston has been coaching at the meetings with me and has been awesome as usual, providing much of the technical training and practical shooting coaching.

We have been focusing on a balanced schedule of theory, practical and mental training, backed up with written articles so we can reference back to them.

We have been getting good feedback, good comments and it's been great to see folk return for a second and third go!

Moving forwards I am looking at getting experienced shooters in to coach and provide their own input and view of the sport. We have some great talent and experience which I want to harness; there is always something new to learn!

Really looking forward to next year, and I hope to see you guys there as well!
