Saturday 5 August saw 15 shooters taking part in the competition. Weather conditions were not the best with bright sunshine the rain and the infamous Alloa wind.
A Class - were shooting well with Jim Godsell (Dunfermline) leading at the end of the day with a score off 585 ex 600, Steven Gemmell (Perth) was a close second with his score of 580. Scott Norval (Alloa) is still getting to grips with his new rifle and shot a passable 576.
B Class - were not far behind with their scores I. Thomson (Watsonians) scored 576 with club companion R. Dove struggling with her new shooting glasses shot a 556. T. Kenny (Alloa) shot a 580 with N. Macdonald (Bearsden) shooting a 576
C Class - some competitors struggled with the conditions, as you can see by the scores - perhaps Alloa & District Rifle Club will run a session on reading the wind. J. Norval (Alloa) shot a 560 ex 600 slightly lower score than in previous competitions. The Wishaw contingent of D. Baxter, Ms N. Sallie and Bill Boyd were enjoying their first time shooting outdoors.
D Class - S. Coates (Watsonians junior) shot extremely well with a good score of 565 ex 600.
Sunday brought out the big guns with R. McLeod (Bearsden) shooting a 595 ex 600, not bad for the Scottish A Class winner at Lauder last month. Donald McIntosh (Alloa) and Richard Simpson (Greenock) tied for second place but Richard won it on tie back.
Overall a great weekend shooting with great camaraderie and some light banter.
