Sandy Walker

Where in Scotland are you from? Mother is from the borders but I have lived in the south east of England all my life.

What discipline(s) do you shoot and who are your coaches? I shoot fullbore Rifle and my fullbore coach with Scotland is Lindsay Peden.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I got involved in the sport after a cricket injury when I was 13. I started shooting .22 rifle at school and trained 5 or 6 days a week but it was fullbore that I found more interesting and the discipline that I continued after school. I progressed through the England schools and GB Junior smallbore teams before progressing though the GB junior fullbore teams. My first senior Scottish cap was at 16 and my first senior GB cap was at 22. I currently have shot for Scotland since 2003 and represented Scotland in the National (10 times) and Mackinnon (9 times) matches, toured multiple times with GB, was selected for the GB Kolapore team in 2017 and have been selected for the GB Palma Team to compete in the World Championships in New Zealand in 2019.

Where you do your shooting? Unfortunately given that I live in London, all my shooting is at Bisley or abroad.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? Having won the St Georges Prize in the 2016 National Meeting, I would like to progress and win The Queen's Prize and The Grand Aggregate. I would also like to gain multiple Commonwealth Games appearances and build on my GB Kolapore and GB Palma selections in 2017
