David McMath

Where in Scotland are you from? I live in Glasgow mostly but am originally from Castle Douglas

What discipline(s) do you shoot and who are your coaches? I compete in Shotgun, specialising in Double Trap and am coached by Marco Michelli.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I first got involved in the sport in 2011 through a family friend who shot at my local club, although my maternal side of the family has been largely involved in both Shotgun and Rifle shooting. I first started shooting the non-Olympic sport of DTL in 2011 winning several Scottish and British Championships at Junior level. In early 2015 I took part in the British Shooting programme to find new shooters which is when I found Double Trap. I have only shot Double Trap since then and have been on the Performance Programme since October 2015.

Where you do your shooting? I shoot at the National Shooting Centre, they are very helpful in allowing me range time, which is particularly difficult to find when shooting Double Trap. I also shoot at Auchterhouse.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? As Double trap has been cut from the Olympic Programme I plan to transition to shooting Trap this year. Although I aim to shoot the World and European Championships for Double Trap this year.
