Andrew Hamilton

Where in Scotland are you from? Stonehouse in South Lanarkshire

What discipline(s) do you shoot and who are your coaches? I am an Olympic Trap shooter and am coached by Marco Micheli.

How did you get involved in the sport and what was shooting journey to get on to the performance programme? I have been involved in clay target shooting for a number of years and have had a goal to push myself within the sport to the highest level I can possibly achieve. I trained hard and competed in a number of competitions throughout the country to be selected onto the high performance programme.

Where you do your shooting? I train at a number of ranges throughout Scotland but the main one being the National Shooting Centre outside Falkirk, a newly built facility that has a great welcoming team and is a great place to train. North Ayrshire Shooting Ground is a fantastic place to train with a cracking layout and background to shoot. I also make frequent journeys to Glenmoriston Shooting Ground just south of Inverness which has a first class standard range and a welcoming clubhouse which makes training and competing very enjoyable.

What are your hopes and plans for the future in terms of your shooting career? Within my shooting career I hope to achieve the very best I can and be able to represent Scotland at many national and international events such as the Commonwealth Games. I also aim towards being selected for team GB and progress further towards the Olympic Games. If I can inspire a new generation of young athletes to take up the sport and compete to the same level as myself this, would be one of my main goals in life.

Any other interesting non-shooting related fact about yourself that you would like to mention? I am a very keen rugby enthusiast and have played for local clubs within my area and I enjoy going to watch the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland national team at Murrayfield.
