Marketing & Social Media Management Internship

  • Duration: 90 days

  • Min requirement: 20 hours per week

  • Location: Central Scotland

The Marketing and Social Media Management intern is a creative, enthusiastic self-starter, keen to share stories and help Scottish Target Shooting connect with the right audiences.  

Who Are Scottish Target Shooting?

Scottish Target Shooting is a unified governing body created in 2016 to help develop the sport of target shooting in Scotland. As a new governing body, we are looking to have a positive impact on clubs and help individuals of all abilities, across all the various disciplines of the sport. We want to make use of creative individuals to develop media content that will improve people’s understanding of the different varieties of target shooting, ranging from domestic disciplines to those shot at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Scotland has an excellent track record in the sport and after winning 6 medals at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, we also want to help raise the profile of our successful team and those focusing on trying to win a place on Team GB at the Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo in 2020. 

What Will Be My Tasks and Responsibilities?

Collaborating with the COO and Marketing & Communications Director to:

  • Support marketing and social media tasks

  • Drive scheduling, content creation and ideas generation

  • Work with the Video and Photography intern to share stories through website, social media, etc.

  • Identify gaps in marketing material design and content

What Skills Are Scottish Target Shooting Looking For?

Applicants are not expected to fulfil all the criteria but should be able to demonstrate their proficiency in most of the following:

  • Applicants do not need to own but must have access to the necessary software and hardware to fulfil the role

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Knowledge and interest in social media, and active on all platforms

  • Great, creative copywriting skills

  • Detail-driven

  • Adaptable and able to pick things up quickly

  • Self-motivated, comfortable working independently and resourceful

  • Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university or enrolled in a relevant course at college

  • Clean drivers licence and access to a car

  • A keen interest in both sport and telling a good story

What Is The Application Process?

Applicants are required to submit a portfolio of their work and a covering letter outlining why they think they would be suitable for this internship and what their future aspirations in this area are.

Applications must be submitted via email to by Friday 26th April

  • Stage 1: All applicants will receive a response confirming receipt of their application. A review will be made of all applications and each applicant will be informed if they have been chosen for stage 2.

  • Stage 2: Applicant selected for stage 2 will be invited for an informal discussion with STS, to be held either in person or via Skype. They will then be contacted to be told if they have been successful or not. Applicants reaching this stage will also be given the opportunity to receive feedback on their application, should they so wish.
